2. My dad's favorite site is Landover Baptist.
It's sometimes not so funny if you live in the buy-bull belt and have to deal with the mouth breathers on a daily basis.

I drive by fetus billboards-not signs, actual full size billboards- some guy has on his lawn on my way to work.

One moran has a giant 'W' in lights on his roof.

3. Sounds like Grand Rapids
Its an area north of where I live. My brother inlaw and his wife live there. I actually get nervous about my stickers there. Every other billboard is literally a religious one. The HQ of Amway is there as well. Place makes me nervous.

4. Amway.
Now there's a cult if I've ever seen one.

My ex-FIL was recruited by them once, by, believe it or not, an FBI agent he worked with.

Nice to know big brother has sharp dudes like that keeping an eye on us.

The guy was a born again too.

My ex hubbie couldn't figure out why I suddenly developed rabid sheepaphobia.

5. Grand Rapids, MI?
Once I went to a wedding in Hastings, which isn't too far away. Beautiful country around there. But as you note, VERY conservative.

Bride and groom were both non-believers, but put up with a church ceremony for both the families sake.

I once had the displeasure of working with another guy from that area of Michigan. He could be fairly pleasant if he worked at it, but he was one of the ugliest anti-Semites I've ever met. Just about anything could set him off on the subject. EVERYTHING was a Jewish conspiracy. And once he got started, it was just about impossible to shut him up.

His wife was a liberal Democrat, which I always found amazing.

6. We lived in Lansing
for a short period of time and my parents lived in Grand Rapids. It was a very surreal experience for native Californians. We lasted one winter and a very scary season ducking invitations from the Amway people for get togethers. :scary:

I was never so happy to see Indio, California in my life, as I lugged my cat in my VW back home to a wonderful diversity.
