Have you received this Anti-Pepsi e-mail?
Edited on Tue Feb-01-05 02:24 PM by southpaw
>DON'T BUY PEPSI IN THE NEW CAN!
>
>Don't buy Pepsi in the new can. Pepsi has a new "patriotic" can coming out
>with pictures of the Empire State Building, and the Pledge of Allegiance on
>them. However, Pepsi left out two little words on the pledge, "Under God."
>Pepsi said they didn't want to offend anyone. In that case, we don't want
>to offend anyone at the Pepsi corporate office, either. So if we don't buy
>any Pepsi product, they will not be offended when they don't receive our
>money that has the words "In God We Trust" on it. HOW FAST CAN YOU FORWARD
>THIS ONE?

I just got it from an old high school friend. I am taking time to decide how to reply... if at all.

I don't even know it this is true. It's google time!

On edit... it's not even true http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/blpepsi-can.htm

1.  tell him you agree..
but not because of the god bullshit, but because it's jingoistic, nationalist propaganda meant to make you more comfortable giving up your rights and paying for unneccesary wars.

2. It's a she, actually...
I replied by sending the link above and a paragraph explaining that both the 'under god' in the pledge and the 'in god we trust' on the currency were by-products of McCarthyism and are clear violations of the separation of church and state.

I said that, if it were true, I would rush to the store for several cases of Pepsi products... but that my aversion to jingoistic patriotism was in conflict with my desire to support this endeavor.

3. The separation between church and state
has been so much violated that it's moribund, probably has AIDS, and does not even interest anyone any longer. It just dies, curled up in a corner. Do you see ANY so-called democrats picking it up and caring for it? I don't. No one will take the risk.
