Ha ha to all the jokes.

But here's something that's not funny! I work, as I have mentioned, at a Catholic university. A lot of the staff is Catholic, even here, in this science lab. Usually on Fridays, we have donuts, paid for by our coffee fund ... but the secretary has informed us that we're NOT going to have DONUTS until Lent is over!!!!! Do you understand the horror of this????? NO DONUTS! I'm a computer person! We LIVE on donuts and pizza. We can absorb no nutrition from anything else!

Even my nice little mother thinks I should bring in donuts and put a sign on them that says something snotty. :)

I was in catechism and they said "for Lent, you have to give up a food you like until Easter". I was greeted with scepticism the next time Mom served sugar beets and I told the family "I gave them up for Lent". The theo-types scheme that you are supposed to give up something indulgent for Lent, like chocolate, or beer, or porn, I suppose. All that was irrelevant, because we did not eat a lot of candy, we did not even get an allowance for candy. So, what other indulgences was I supposed to give up at 8? Cigarettes?
