Did anyone see Bill Maher on Scarborough?
He did an excellent job and refused to back down after making the comment that religion is a "neurological disorder."

Good for Bill, DU hasn't been very kind to him recently.

1. Didn't catch that.
I hardly ever "stop in" on Scarborough's show.

I like Bill Maher, except when he calls Ann Coulter his "friend" (shudder). The new season of Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO begins this Friday - I'm glad it's coming back. I think the guests are Joseph Biden, Tommy Thompson, and Robin Williams.

2. Maher's pretty good.
Unfortunately he does what a lot of "try to bash both sides equally" people do, and that's equate the morally egregious behavior of Republicans to the minor infractions of Democrats so he can say "They're all the same".

3. True enough.
I think he revels in the fact that he's not beholden to either side, and goes out of his way to prove it.

But, what I like about him is the fact that he's generally not afraid to speak his mind, or call people out on their bullshit. And on his show, he has dialogue with his guests on issues that most other shows won't touch.

Plus, you gotta give props to a guy who gets Noam Chomsky on his show.

5. I like Bill Maher, but I disagree with him on half of his stuff
He's not afraid to be an opinionated, misogynistic asshole, and I like that. He feels no need to cover himself in the flag or soft peddle his ideas with pap about values. He's the real deal, and even when I disagree with him, I still respect him for that.

4. What time does Bill Maher come on?
Do you realize that with Bill Maher and Penn&Teller there are three atheists who have their own TV shows? How cool is that?

6. Very cool.
Now when is George Carlin going to get his own show?

Real Time comes on 11:00pm EST on Fridays, and tomorrow is the first show of the 2nd season. It generally gets replayed quite a few times throughout the week, I believe. I have the On Demand feature, so I usually watch them later since I'm usually doing something on Friday nights. Although, more than once I've skipped out on a night of carousing to watch his show, especially when the panel makes for a promising episode.
