US Military Proselytizes in Afghanistan

US soldiers have been encouraged to spread the message of their Christian faith among Afghanistan's predominantly Muslim population, video footage obtained by Al Jazeera appears to show.

Military chaplains stationed in the US air base at Bagram were also filmed with bibles printed in the country's main Pashto and Dari languages.

In one recorded sermon, Lieutenant-Colonel Gary Hensley, the chief of the US military chaplains in Afghanistan, is seen telling soldiers that as followers of Jesus Christ, they all have a responsibility "to be witnesses for him".

1. Local Fundie radio was claming the US burned those Bibles

And you can just imagine the outrage they were venting!

I heard this rant a few weeks ago, on (K)KKLA radio here in Los Angeles, the Official Voice Of GOP Jesus in Southern California.

Oddly enough, they were also using al-Jazeera as a source. For a news story about Bibles in Afghanistan being piled up and burned, after the US military ruled that they violated the SOP. (American soldiers are forbidden to proselytize, believe it or not.)

Fundie radio got its panties in such a wad about this, they openly contradicted themselves. Well, that's too polite so I will re-rephrase: they lied their ass off.

First the Xian radio ranter said it was "only a FEW Bibles, intended STRICTLY for the use of the American soldiers themselves."

Then a few minutes later he was claiming CASES of Bibles were burned, and the soldiers needed a lot of Bibles "just in case they got a chance to witness to the local people about Jesus."

I was LMAO. Can't even keep the simplest lie straight, in their cock-eyed zeal.
