http://www.adherents.com/Religions_By_Adherents.html 92% of the world's population believes in some kind of deity. There are about 550 million atheists and agnostics worldwide. There are 2.1 billion Christians, 1.5 billion Muslims, 900 million Hindus, 550 million non-religious believing in God people, and us in the top five. I was actually kind of surprised. I figured we would have ranked lower, but we're ahead of Buddhism and whatever "Chinese traditional religion" is. Eight percent is still kind of puny, though.

http://www.religioustolerance.org/at_ag_hu.htm 7% or about 14 million people in the U.S. identify as either an atheist or an agnostic. That's a little more than the population of my wonderful home state of Ohio. That's even punier, but, hey, at least we're ahead of the Mormons. :) Maybe we could do like them and just take over a state. :D
What all that means to me is that 92% of the world's population and 93% of America's population is delusional in at least one regard. How badly is superstition getting in the way of progress? What if we flipped the numbers and 92% of the world's population was atheist/agnostic with the rest being religious people? What would the world be like then?
