Oprah "puzzled, confused" by Danish atheists
During a visit to Copenhagen to find out why Danes are happier than everyone else, a woman points out they're also among the least religious.

Finding atheists in this idyllic country where homelessness is an unknown fear, infants sleep outside unattended, and jobs are selected by interests rather than pay, confounds Oprah's inner Deepak, and she goes fishing for an unacknowledged "spiritual" component in their lives:

2. I hate it when someone paraphrases an answer I have given and repeats
it back with, "You mean...." No, I mean what I said. Those women were not religious but she had to try to make them admit they were. What's her problem? She never seemed religious herself and has said publicly that she is not a Christian. Weird.

4. She's a sort of quasi-Xian woo. Good explanation here...

At Xian Examiner. Article from May 2008.

Complete with a lecture from former inmate/Nixon fellatist Chuck Colson! (Best comment ever about Colson, from his former buddy G. Gordon Liddy: "Colson said he would walk over his grandmother for Richard Nixon. So just imagine what he would do for Jesus.")

Many Xians see Oprah as a threat to their franchise. And you know how much those f!ckers hate competition. (Last night I watched The Handmaid's Tale, so I'm especially grumpy about Xianity this morning.)

And the operator of a Christian Web site calls her “the most dangerous woman on the planet.”

Some may consider that an overstatement, but many of Oprah’s Christian fans are growing increasingly concerned about her promotion of spiritual views that they consider “New Age” or, at the least, incompatible with biblical Christianity.

I think Oprah's response is a real hoot, and yet another lesson in how woos so often approach life. Here, the known and observed facts conflict with Oprah's mindset. So she immediately re-arranges the facts to fit her preconceptions.

Critical thinking, Oprah. Ur doin it rong.

5. Sorry O, most people in Europe have a better grasp upon reality
and have no need for religious bullshit; which is the crux of our many social problems..Religion is the reason the states are so fucked up.

6. Having fear brainwashed into me did not make me very "happy"
I am sure that others had sweeter religious upbringing than me. I surely don't understand this. I thought Church was terror.

Is God like hearing that song "don't worry be happy" playing over and over again in your head?
