Atheist Symbols...your thoughts, please!
I came across this icon a while ago, and I really liked it.
Very Star-treky and futuristic. I like it better than the
American Atheist Logo...

American Atheist Logo:

But I like the American Atheist logo better as a symbol for my
freethinking outlook better than the "Darwin Fish" which is cute,
but mocks the Xtian "fish" logo.

I don't belong to the "American Humanist" organization, but I
like the logo....

If I could design and designate my choice of an identifier
as a Freethinker, I think I would like a stylized lightbulb
design. Because Thomas Edison was a Freethinker, and because
the lightbulb symbolizes ....well, light in the darkness,
illumination, clear sight.

The Brights have a logo, but it's kind of impossible to put it on
a chain....

I found this little essay while I was looking up logos....

Any other ideas?

1. Why should we agree on a logo?
Except for the issue of God, we don't have to agree on anything else...

2. So that they can be mass produced cheaply....
and I can afford one.

Xtians wear their crosses,
Muslims wear their hajibs....

Apart from the occasional Darwin Fish
seen on car bumpers, I would get a kick
out of seeing someone with an atomic symbol
necklace, the same way that people enjoy
seeing my "Peace Symbol" necklace.

5. It's not enough just to delince to be religious.
Sometimes its is necessary to push back at those trying to shut us up.

But I've seen your posts, even in THIS forum,
and didn't realize that it STOOD for something...

How do you like the "new" symbol on that dog tag?

8. It's neat.
It has a nice 'futuristic' (at least the contemporary version of futuristic) look to it. I've never been one for logos--my avatar is really the most I've done...ever.

4. When I was in high school I drew a pro-science symbol.
It was a balance scale. On the heavy side was an atom and on the light side was a bunch of snakes symbolizing superstition.

7. Sounds intricate....
Maybe just a stylized pair of spectacles....?

11. I think it's the most recognizable one....
There was a barista who had the atomic symbol
tattooed on his arm, but without the "A"...

I told him that his tattoo looked kind of like
the atheist symbol, and he looked kinda sheepishly
at me, so I told him that I only knew that because
I WAS an atheist. He high-fived me.

I was KINDA hoping for a free cappuccino....

13. Looks like THIS:
Tipped over!

But I DO like it, and I could make a necklace with it....
