I'm dropping out of R/T

I've had it. Same damned arguments in multiple threads, with completely obtuse people who don't understand basic logic. I hate to quit fighting the good fight, but it's pointless to keep going around in circles.

Anybody else feel this way?

1. Indeed I do.

I took a short break because of how frustrating it was getting and I'm making the decision to only really involve myself in one thread at a time to keep from going crazy. I don't know how darkstar does it but I sure am thankful that someone has the stamina to address the same old shit from the same people on multiple threads at once.

2. I've said this countless times but it's the thing that bothers me the most in R/T.

It's the fucking so-called "liberal" Christians who scream bloody murder if "bad" Christians are criticized ("we're not all like that!!!!") but yet when some reactionary asshole starts in on a thread (can't name names, but you know the worst offenders) NOT A ONE of these "TRUE" Christians hop in to counter the idiot conservative one. NOT A SINGLE ONE. They all scoot themselves well away from the disruptor, leaving the atheists to be the only ones to do battle.

It's the world in a microcosm. Conservative asshole Christians are out there with significant power, liberal Christians call them "not true Christians" and claim they're doing all they can to speak up against them. Here on DU is a REAL CHANCE for one of them to do just that and confront a "bad" Christian and they all turn into chickenshits.

Are the same ones who start in on the FUNDIE atheist crap! I don't get it..You don't want religous people broad brushed but its okay to do the same to atheists? The hypocrisy in that forum is hard to take quite a bit. There are some believers who aren't like that, but it seems like the atheist bashers outnumber them.

It's been weeks since I bothered seeking them out. Once in a blue moon a thread will pop up on the main page and I'll weigh in, but I never seek out the threads.

You can beat them down, but you can't change their minds. Reason rolls off them. OTOH, somebody should man (person?)the trenches. I am reminded of the punch line where the rabbi says to the visiting stranger, "I just wanted you to see what I have to put up with."
