Just got de-friended on Facebook for calling out my christian cousin
She posted a "prayer" calling for Obama's death. I called her out in a sarcastic manner by telling her how proud Dear Lord must be of this particular prayer seeing as how it embodied the true spirit of Christianity. No great loss for either of us, she's a dumb-ass and I'm (for now) the sheriff of hypocrisy.

1. If she's the sort who would post such a thing, seems like it's worth
getting "defriended" to call her out on it.

2. I read it and decided to ignore her stupidity at first
but it kept eating on me so I had to go back and slap back at her hypocrisy. We don't have anything in common anyway--anyone trashy enough to name their child for a brand of mudflaps is not my kind of person. It was worth it, but I dread the fallout. I'd do it again though, and next time I won't be so oblique. I'll quote Natalie Merchant: "Religion is the smile on a dog..."

Thanks for your support.

5. I always want to ask such people
"How do you think your god feels about you treating him like a hit-man?"

8. Great line! I wanted her to think about what she was saying
She has never been the brightest bulb in the marquee, but practically every sentence that she has directed at me in the past thirty years is prefaced with "I am a Bible-believing Christian, but..." Then she says something ugly and I always think "What a hypocrite," but I have never called her on it until now. I have learned in the past few days that Facebook has a group that posts that preposterous prayer and I joined an anti-group that has over 1M subscribers as of early this morning. When people say stupid shit, especially if someone may get hurt because of what is being said, I feel that I have to call them out. Next time I'll try opening with your line and see if making her laugh first will temper her defensiveness.

6. These people always have an excuse
"oh, it's just a joke, lighten up."

It really makes me wonder when Christians (and other faiths) take their religion less seriously than non-believers. You are asking your deity to come down and murder someone you disagree with. A deity you believe in! If I ask Thor to smite Carrottop, no one thinks I'm serious, because I don't believe in Thor. But you really think your god is real, and really answers prayers, and you are begging him to murder the president of your country.

Fucking people.

9. That's very interesting
Maybe religion is getting to be more a political or social position than an actual belief. Who has the stomach these days to completely imagine eating flesh and drinking blood. I don't even know what the requirements are to be a "believer".

10. LOL!! My relative makes this high school principal look
like Albert Einstein. That is the prayer that I replied to. My post was "Dear Lord" must be mighty proud of you for posting this prayer. It is full of the spirit of Christianity." She is not a smart woman, poor old thing.
