Centre for Inquiry Appoints Outspoken Secularist and Gay Rights Champion to Calgary Office

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - July 15, 2010) - Nate Phelps, son of homophobic pastor Fred Phelps has been hired as Executive Director of the Alberta branch of the Centre for Inquiry (CFI) Canada.

Phelps has garnered international attention for speaking out in opposition to his family's message of hatred and intolerance. He has also stood in support of gay rights in America.

"We are very proud to have Nate join our growing team." said CFI National Director Justin Trottier. "This is a milestone for CFI. Never before has a secular humanist organization had four staff in key cities in Canada."

After 25 years in the printing industry in southern California, Phelps immigrated to Canada in late 2005.
