This video makes me laugh :-)
Pissed Catholic Mom

I only wish it were longer. I wanted to hear more.

I felt sorry for the kid, though.

1. The Catholic screech, I know it well
because I heard enough of it when I stopped pretending to believe a word of it. I'd told them it was a waste of time and I didn't want to do it any more. KA BOOM!

What happened with me is that my parents finally wore themselves out and slipped into sullen silence over the subject. I hope it eventually happens with this kid, too.

Mom doesn't have a chance berating him into belief. If the priests and nuns didn't manage it, Mom sure as hell can't. They're professionals!

3. I was shocked
when I heard the devout Catholic mom in the video screech at her son like that. I wasn't expecting such a tirade, and I suppose that's why I was amused. It wasn't really funny, I guess.

My mom, a staunch Presbyterian, only shook her head and murmured, "Heathen," then changed the subject, whenever I said anything against religion. My dad never said a word. He always told my sisters and me to never be afraid to question anything that didn't appear to make sense, and to never be afraid to THINK.

Sorry you had to hear the Catholic screech, but maybe you're stronger for it. :-)

haha, yes, I'm sure priests and nuns are pros at persuading kids to keep the faith. Especially nuns, judging from stories my Catholic friends used to tell me about them!

4. That part made me spit coffee
through my nose!

At first I thought she was blaspheming when she said Jesus Christ. Here's pretty much how I initially heard it: "Because that's what Christmas is all about! Jesus Christ!"

:-D

5. Thanks! I have a relative like that.
"Yes I am." "NO YOU'RE NOT!!!" "Yes I am." "YOU CAN'T BE!!!" I don't appreciate being ranted at, so I just try to avoid the subject.

BTW, did you catch this vid on the same page, "Atheist Intolerance?"

A nice piece about discrimination against non-believers turns into a lecture from a smarmy little fuck about how we bring it on ourselves. Just like teh wimmen and teh gays, I guess:

6. I hadn't seen that video
so thanks!

Teh atheists are on the attack! All 2-3% of us! OMG! Run away, run away!

By the way, one of my sisters-in-law said,"NO YOU'RE NOT!" to me, too, and gave me such a hard shove that I lost my balance and almost fell. She's a staunch Lutheran, but she has no idea what her church doctrine is. She makes altar cloths and helps clean the church every week, so she knows God loves her anyway.
