Jesus saved New Orleans from Katrina?
In one of the biggest :wtf: moments for me lately I saw this story about a Jesus statue with missing fingers..That some people say went missing after "steering" Katrina away from NO. Pardon me, but I'm at a loss on how Katrina could have done much more damage to NO than it did in reality. Putting 80% of your city underwater is saving it? How pathetic of a Messiah do you have to be if you can steer a hurricane but can't keep shoddy levees from breaking? Damn, but if I had a relative who died in Katrina, I would find this kind of thing highly offensive...:banghead:

1. huh?
Katrina hit NO pretty much straight on, didn't it? Maybe glancing a little bit?

2. No I remember that at first they thought that Katrina had "spared" NO
because it jogged slightly East at the last moment. However, I'm not sure a dead on hit would have been all that much worse than what happened after the levees failed.

3. right
St. Andrew, or Ivan, were bad.

The hellish thing about Katrina was the LEVEES, not the storm itself

4. A Jesus statue?
Edited on Fri Sep-10-10 12:23 AM by Behind the Aegis
I haven't heard this one. I do know the statue at on the Riverwalk lost it's finger, but she ain't Jesus. It is a statue in honor of all the immigrants that created our city. I think I even have a pic of it...if not I can run down and get one, it's only about 7 blocks from my house.

Edit: This isn't my picture. The statue is represnative of Lady Liberty. You can see the missing fingers.:
