900 Foot Jeebus in Poland to earn $$$
MC 900 Foot Jeebus

It's not quite 900 feet, but the statue going up in Poland will be the world's biggest Jeebus. Why are they building it? For the MONEY, silly.

Although erected ostensibly to show gratitude to God, the town hopes having the massive statue will bring tourists into a community that has lain off the beaten track for most of its existence. "If we had opened a racetrack or a golf course here, tourists would have come only for the season. But with a statue of Jesus the season will last the whole year," a local official told Wprost, a weekly news magazine.

3. Might happen
They could be building Deathtrap Jesus if what this Polish poster to the Skyscaper City forums says is true:
The best thing is this monument was designed without ANY knowledge of building, designing, etc, NOONE knows how much does the constructrion weigh, it was reported to local authorities as "small architecture" so there's no need for architect's and urbanist's approval and moreover it is even unstable. Nobody is brave enough to try to finish this monument, it can collapse. (And the crown of the Jesus is designed for observation platform just like in Statue of Liberty)

Another Pole says:
My friends live in Świebodzin. The are REALLY ashamed of this statue :D

Construction was delayed this weekend when a 400-ton crane was found inadequate to place the head and shoulders on the statue. So they're waiting for a 700-ton crane.

Oops.

4. Good thing they're Christian
They'd probably have to endure a National Year of Eating Beans to best this Buddha.
