A little help in figuring this out, if you please. Am I missing something here or am I just dancing with a jerk? In these two sub-threads, I am just not seeing the point trying to be made. Is there one? Am I being dense and just am not getting it or what? And I am not talking about GG.

GliderGuider is coming from an Eastern mystical perspective where the word god is meaningless. It's very difficult for him to understand the word god and therefore be able to decide whether he is an atheist or not. He's not being obtuse and neither is bmus.

The word god is something that does not register for Buddhists or Daoists, which always makes me uncomfortable when we try to turn them into atheists, because they don't use the word.

That's why I only posted 2 words in that thread;
If we're going to post an opinion, we need to know
what we're opining about.

I didn't want to get into an argument with you,
so I let it go.

What you should have learned from that exchange
was that there is no ONE interpretation of "god".

I use it ALL the time when I get into conversations
with "theists". I ask them to define the "god" that
they believe in.

They can NEVER do it.

Sometimes I take pity on them and use the term
"supernatural intercessor".

When asked, I stated that "god" was whatever you (or anyone) defines it as themselves. Thats the only definition of "god" I ever offered.
I guess I am just not seeing where I was trying to define god.
