http://verydemotivational.memebase.com/And...while wasting time recently watching true-crime TV...I've noticed a fairly common theme:
American Greed, "Fool's Gold" episode - the story of Nigerian con man "Dr." Henry Jones and the $32 million Tri-Energy scam.
This one made my head spin. Jones claimed to be running a secret deal to exchange 20 tons of gold between Israel and Dubai. The world's largest gold reserve is in Fort Knox, and that's only 8 tons.
Dupes invested in the gold scheme to finance yet another downline scam, to mine clean-burning coal (!!!).
According to the FBI agent on the case, Jones was most successful pitching to "Mormons and born-again Xians." One of his accomplices was a Los Angeles preacher who roped in his flock.
http://www.cnbc.com/id/40535823/American Greed, Troy Aurelius Titus: this scumbag ripped off, among others, cancer victims and the elderly. During the recent Great Real Estate Bubble, he pontificated at seminars and harvested names from the sign-up sheets.
Titus snookered some very savvy investors who were far from clueless get-rich-quick wanna-bes. He claimed the usual 20% or better yield on a short-term investment in his "secret real-estate investment strategies."
So secret they didn't exist - the whole thing was a classic Ponzi scheme.
But according to one of his victims, Titus was "a God-fearing Christian conservative businessman." So what could possibly go wrong?
