"What would happen if a high profile atheist were accused of rape?"
"The tendency to blame the victim, as demonstrated by the recent thread about a child who experienced religious oppression at a public school, has risen to great sport here. Thread after thread involving rape goes on many "hide" lists simply because there are so many people ready and willing to blame and try the victim. But we can't discount the fact that atheists, especially prominent atheists, have been scientifically and observationally shown to be the most hated group in the country, maybe the world.
We know now, from the thread I mentioned earlier, exactly what happens when an atheist is the victim of a crime, and the pile-on speaks volumes all by itself. But what would happen in a thread where a prominent atheist were accused of rape? Would the atheist be blamed, thereby showing that atheist-hate is stronger than victim-blaming reflex? Would the victim be blamed as usual, showing that it's less acceptable in the court of public opinion to seek justice for being raped than it is to speak out against religion? Or would the thread simply remain silent?
I'm curious."
