All that down-is-up shit is really making my head spin
When you accept that no belief is another sort of belief, there are all kinds of crazy-ass arguments that can be made. Whoo!

6. .
I started a thread here- (I don't feel at home in GD. Does anybody else feel this way?) as a mirror thread to one I had alerted on in another group. Others had also alerted on it.
Guess what happened?

7. My favorite is "atheism is just another religion."
I'm afraid I'm not very nice to people who are srupid enough to say that, but I am always polite. Icily so.

9. That thread made my head hurt, too.
But I did get some good ammo for future battles...whenever some twit says "atheism is a religion." So thanks!

I read through it, and (as usual) couldn't think of anything to add that hadn't already been said better by one of The Usual Atheist Suspects.

Something in a recent movie reminded of that thread a little. It was the HBO production of Empire Falls:

"I don't know if he's an atheist, or if he just thinks he can bullshit God the same way he bullshits everybody else."

(Ed Harris says the line to a priest.)

10. "The Usual Atheist Suspects" ! LMAO !!!
Every time I see the trap set I think:
"Gee, nobody will be stupid enough to take the bait".
And someone does, every time.

How's your lack of belief in Qrtflmrs coming along?

11. I'm still researching Qrtflmrs...
Edited on Mon Jun-06-05 12:20 AM by onager
...in this-here huge pile of Religious Philosophy books.

When I've cross-indexed the Qrtflmr position from Thomas Aquinas, Godel, C.S. Lewis and all those guys, I'll explain it all to everybody in a single 50,000 word post. ;)

I'm being snarky, but damned if I understand how I'm supposed to learn anything about atheism from a bunch of people whose default position is belief in a god. And I don't care HOW smart they're supposed to be.

I guess I'm supposed to be so awed by their intellectual "proof" of the Invisible Friend, I'll just forget all about atheism and suddenly convert.

Uh...no.

12. Yeah, like this is the first time
we've ever heard these arguments...

Like I noted in a post about another recently deceased troll in the Women's forum, could they possibly insult my intelligence any more?

That forum draws trolls like crazy. Talk about bait, uppity women are better than chum in the water...

Couldn't find any evidence that it ever existed.
