What's up with tying Rudolph to Nietzche?
Is this the beginning of an anti-freethinkers movement?

christians, they say they're not really christians and then try to pawn them off on us by tying them to atheism.

They do this with communist and socialist villains too.

Amateurs.

9. Well, now
Edited on Wed Jul-20-05 03:16 PM by salvorhardin
I was talking about his writings in philosophy, not his personal life. Nietzche and Sartre caused me to drop PHIL 306: Existentialism inside of 4 weeks. Zzzz...

Maybe if the prof had covered Neitzche's persona life it would have been different. :-)

I know I'm their mother, they know I'm their mother, but if their friends show up, they have to pretend they aren't with me.

6. If they could say Hitler read Nietzche...
...they would.

I read that post. Frankly, outside of the reference to Nietzche, I thought it sounded (if it was at ALL accurate) like the proud ravings of a fool who considers himself "Special" in the eyes of his Gawd, which I seem to recall is how a lot of these self-styled holy martyrs see themselves.

He didn't sneer at those who were offering prayers for his Salvation because he rejects Salvation, he was sneering because, as far as he was concerned, he ALREADY had his Salvation IN THE BAG....

The Mythists really have a hard time with the idea that a Monster could be their "Brother in Christ", don't they?

10. I think Nietzsche would have despised Hitler...
As I remember, he called the Prussian militarists of his own time "swine," among other things. He considered their followers a mindless rabble who would blindly follow the right leader directly over a cliff.

8. Fundamentalist Christians are always doing stuff like that.
I once had one tell me that Nietzsche's concept of the "will to power" was actually coined by some Christian cleric in the Middle Ages. This was in response to my noting that her love of the phrase was amusing, given Nietzsche's stance on the Church. . . .

Christians want to appropriate everything in modern society to themselves, while denying the very real evil the Church has committed over the years.

15. An interesting Rudolph note from Michael Medved
During a recent radio broadcast, Medved was blathering on about pro-christian nonsense when a caller inquired about Rudolph. The caller wanted to understand how a militant Christian could commit so many crimes. Medved, very indignant, stated "Rudolph is an atheist, read his letters."

And if you do read the letters, which are posted on the net, there is one which states, I paraphrase, "reading Nietzsche was more interesting than reading the Bible."

Therefore, he must be an atheist. Reading the works of an author who proclaimed "God is dead," for shame. Christians are safe again, the evil Rudolph is really a god-less heathen ATHEIST. Can't remember the last time an atheist was bent out of shape about abortion, much less, take a militant homicidal stance for the issue.
