Why The Rush To Make JPII A Saint?
Doesn't the Catholic Church have RULES that must be followed? Doesn't the Catholic Church already have STANDARDS in place that must be applied? Aren't these rules and everything involved with the process put in place for the VERY PURPOSE of avoiding lapses in judgment that are brought about by human emotion and grief?

Apparently, the wait-time has been reduced... and the standards for what constitutes a "miracle" are being lowered. I'm reminded of the dumb kids in school who got "social-promotions" to the next grade level even though they didn't deserve it.

Are saints being graded on a curve now?

What's the big rush? Why are they lowering (ignoring) the standards?

1. Someone suggested that he has
a skeleton that fell out of the closet and there's no way to keep the public from finding out about it.

I'm kind of leaning towards that one myself.
It must be a BIG skeleton.

2. Appeasing the flock, perhaps.
JPII was a popular pope, so give the people what they want and maybe they will ignore the pedophilia issues, gay bashing, and most importantly, cough up some extra cash on Sunday.

4. Bingo.
Never mind all the other things in the church that have been the same for CENTURIES and CENTURIES and how it's the oldest church in the world and it can't just go changing overnight and that things are one way for a reason and blah blah blah.

Wha? Attendance down? Empty coffers? Dayum, let's put that ol' pope on the fast track! To hell with tradition!
