"After all, he's the one in charge of the lightning bolts."
Came across this quote in a Salon article about "Christian Business"
http://www.salon.com/mwt/feature/2005/08/04/christian_businesses/index.html (subscription or day pass required) and my first thought was that god must really have it in for boy scouts lately.

At least one of the business owners admits that they have lost customers because of the overt religious messages.

Personally, I started avoiding any business that advertises their religion years ago.

5. I can believe they bounce
Driving home from work tonight, I tuned in the local r-w Fundie radio station to see what they were up to.

As usual, LOTS of commercials about "debt relief." Some of them even use a pitch geared to Fundies who might be feeling guilty about finding themselves in the same sinking boat as those Sinful Deadbeats they're always bitching about. e.g., the ads seldom use the ugly work "bankruptcy," though that is obviously what they mean. In a nutshell...cough...the pitch says it's not really the debtor's fault.

But THEN...I also heard a string of commercials for no-interest-only home loans. These promised you could buy "the home of your dreams! Up to ONE MILLION DOLLARS! With NO MONEY DOWN!" Even if you have lousy/no credit! Wow! Just like a miracle or something.

Of course, there's a serious logical disconnect between the promises in those two kinds of sales pitches. But considering their audience, that doesn't surprise me a bit.
