My only problem is SciFi Channel isn't Hi-Def.

I Hope the series is as good as the mini-series. Well written and executed, nods to the old series and even 2001 (some of the president's ship scenes).

Gotta run pop the corn and warm up the sofa! Enjoy, SciFi fans!

1. It's great
And we get "Water" as a bonus!

I didn't realize they were showing two episodes.

I'm really enjoying the new series. And I'm not normally one to nitpick but I do have a question.

How come a nuke didn't bust the hull but small arms level explosives were able to blow the water tanks?

I'm not a materials engineer, could the fact that the explosives were inside have something to do with it?

3. Heh. Good question...
I guess the thought was that the C4 was placed strategically (they called it C4 and still have "frack" and cubits?) and the ship wasn't armored for an attack from the interior?

Still, the Nuke did a lot of damage and took out several sections.

All in all, I like it a lot so far. Story and character trump the special effects and premise. Makes for a good show.

4. Speaking of terminology
I noticed they did way with the old time units, centons, milicentons, etc...

Personally I think that was a good decision, they never seemed very consistant on the use of the colonial terms in the old show.

6. Or...
How come they had time for the nice little funeral service and Commander Adama had a chance to retire to his quarters and discuss things with the president if they're getting attack every 33 minutes?

Oh well.

8. I'm not an engineer but...
I think it has to do with the whole 'hold a firecracker' example from Armageddon.

Hold a firecracker in an open palm and you'll get burned. Hold a firecracker in a closed fist and you'll lose your hand.

A nuke blast in space would probably disspate it's energy alot differently. OF course I can't imagine it wouldn't do MASSIVE damage to the ship...

As far as the explosives, you're putting additional outward pressure on the hull and boom...

but Like I said I"m not an engineer.

5. Universal HD claims they will be showing BSG in HD,
uninterruped and without commercials!

7. I loved the mini series, but the first episode was disappointing.

When the president said, she learned from the previous president never admit mistakes in public. That killed what was a really interesting episode. The first thing that came to mind was old *w, and his continued denial of reality. Also, using the BSG crew as police made me laugh. That crew has some of the most undisciplined soldiers. It just looks as if they're setting up the president to fail.
