What will be the next Star Trek incarnation?

As anyone heard any rumours on this or any firm news? Also, what would you like the new Star Trek to be about?

I always liked the idea of Capt Sulu in charge of the Excelsior.

That or move forward from TNG. Prequels suck.

Star Trek: Voyager executive producer Brannon Braga, in an article in SFX Magazine, again quashed hopes that the next Trek television series will feature Capt. Hikaru Sulu or the crew of the U.S.S. Excelsior. "I think what our goal is with this new show is to capture the essence and spirit of Star Trek," Braga said, according to a transcript of his interview posted to the Trek Today fan Web site.

Braga added, "We don't want to mess around with that, but at the same time we feel that it should be new and different. I don't think that's going to include Sulu or any of the components that have existed. We really want to move this franchise forward and do something that feels completely fresh. I think that's what the franchise needs." As before, Braga declined to discuss details of the new series now in development.


It goes back further, but Berman 'n co have always HATED the TOS era. And a Sulu series would have been better than the last 3 spinoffs combined.

2. How about Capt. William Riker, and the Starship Enterprise?!

3. You mean the U.S.S. Titan

Riker was promoted to the rank of Captain and was assigned a new command aboard the U.S.S Titan in Star Trek: Nemesis. Picard is still the captain of the Enterprise, althought all of his original senior staff (with the exception of Geordi) have either all left or died (Data).

6. Worf is back on the ship.

Worf and Geordi are his only two senior officers left at the end of Nemesis. Maybe they could do new adventures with the Enterprise-E with Captain Picard and Worf as first officer.

4. Star Trek Academy....

And have the main characters studying to be Science Officers.

5. Move onward into the late 24th early 25th century...

Talk about the rebuilding of the dominion war... perhaps an opotmistic story line whereby the founders become a peaceful race and kinder to "solids" due to Odo's experiences and rejoining the link...

Lets also see what happens to the cardassians, now is a good time for them to be written about, especially the forces taht want to change its 1984 Orwellian, military government.

Also talk about the romulans and follow up on the romulan-vulcan unification attempts.

ALso, some more info on the social/cultural revolution going on in Ferengi culture that was occuring towards the end of DS9, tie it in to present day.

A great series would be one which sees peace amongst all the major races in the alpha/beta quadrants.

Then we can deal with what lies in the other (Borg and Dominion).

I don't know if it could be made to work but that's what I'd like to see.

Dunno. Berman and co. have lost their steam. Had done about 6 years ago.

A Romulan-centric series would be nice, but why?

...thats pretty good. I like thinking out of the box like that. It could not only show the bad, but those with a conscience. And it could show the interaction with the Federation. Great idea.

I have to concur. It is time for a rest. There has been a Trek Series on TV (in one incarnation or another) since 1987. Give it a rest. Get someone else at the helm of the franchise (Berman & Bragga are killing Trek)

12. Star Trek: Revenge of the Fans

A mob of angry nerds in full costume lay siege to Paramount Studios, demanding restitution. Pressured by the local community, who is frustrated with the loud karaoke renditions of classic Queen hits performed in Klingon, Paramount throws Berman & Braga to the eager fans. The two are tried for their crimes against Trek. It's a kangaroo court, of course, and they are sentenced to death by clawing by the Spinerfemmes.

Oh, come on. Like you wouldn't watch that show. I'd fucking volunteer.
