Paramount fired and banned Cruise from the studio after his histrionics about Scientology on TV (when he was supposed to be promoting Spielberg's WotW and his own MI-III). He's personna non-grata there now (even though he made them billions in the past). No way they would allow him back for any film they produce, much less their most famous and lucrative franchise.
