Star Trek TNG or DS9
I must admit I was an avid fan for TNG and avoided DS9 when it first aired. However, I have sense started to watch DS9 episodes in rerun and have bought the whole series. I just watched the following episodes..

Trials and Tribble-ations
In Purgatory's Shadow
By Inferno's Light
Hippocratic Oath
The Abandoned

For those that don't recall, posted the official page. Anyway, damn impressed. These are great episodes. Seems that DS9 is more consistent with outstanding episodes than TNG. However, it seems that TNG was more science curious and DS9 is more character, species and space opera driven. Not to say that is bad, I admit, I am hooked. ST Enterprise is similar in construction and is starting to blossom.

Peace....

1. Between the two is a hard choice.
But, I watched DS9 religously throughout its run. I was in my first year of college when DS9 was in its seventh (and final) season and it was the only show I watched religiously that year. That was a big year for the series and it was just such a great show. Watch "In the Pale Moonlight" if you haven't. I thought it was the best episode of the series.

3. The two are my favorite.. but If I was forced to choose, it would be DS9.
The story lines are multi-episode arcs, and many of the plots span several if not all seasons... TNG was episode (or two parter) at a time gig, and it had a weak first couple of seasons.

4. DS9
was in many respects a much better show. It was more character driven than TNG, and allowed the characters to grow more each season. I think they copped out at the end with Sisko moving on to another "dimension" or however they phrased it: it really was not a good ending IMO.

The episodes (except for parts of season 1 and 2) were taut, and they all seemed to keep the characters pretty consistent. With several "kids" running around, we saw both Nog and Jake Sisko growing up and maturing in so many wonderful ways--they were kids while they were kids--getting into trouble, getting disciplined, and not much in the forefront of stories unless they needed to me.

I've named DS9 more times as my favorite of the shows, and I think it is still true. It's an interesting situation to be in, where a franchise has yielded not only one, but 4 relatively decent spinoffs after its demise. Actually 5 if you consider the animated series.
