New DOCTOR WHO news (includes a spoiler or two)
Series 4 is under production - to air in 2008. Catherine Tate will reprise her role from the 2006 Christmas special and be the Doctor's companion.

Free Agyeman (Martha) will return in series 4, albeit during its second half. She will be going to Torchwood for its second series. I've not seen Torchwood, but reviews of series 1 didn't impress me and others who saw it and didn't like it said so for reasons I had fathomed. ('mature' storylines being gratuitous sexuality and jokes; not for stronger plotlines that children wouldn't be able to piece together.)

Series 5 will take place in 2010, though it is not confirmed who will produce it.

Rumor has it both Russell T Davies and David Tennant will bow out at the end of series 4. Internet comments have people hoping Steven Moffatt or Paul Cornell take the mantle of senior script editor/writer. (Despite Moffatt's inclusion of sexuality, both of them do have what it takes to write absolutely phenomenal WHO stories.)

2009 will feature a couple of specials, but no proper 13 episode series is going to be made.

And I'm quite looking forward to Catherine Tate as the new companion. I really feel they blew a tremendous opportunity with Freema and hope they don't make the same mistakes with Catherine Tate in terms of writing. I also would have liked to have seen the Sally Sparrow character(Carey Mulligan) return as a companion. If Moffatt takes over I think that'll be the best thing for the series.
