Straczynski: Star Trek Needed Reboot

What's the best way to reinvigorate a tired franchise? Why not take a route made popular by Ronald D. Moore and "Battlestar Galactica" and reboot it?
That's what television producers J. Michael Straczynski and Bryce Zabel were recommending to CBS Corp. in the final days of "Star Trek: Enterprise" on the near final days of UPN. Their proposal, which recently came to light thanks to IESB, calls for the return of Capt. Kirk, Spock, McCoy and even the original USS Enterprise ... just in a retelling that would fascinate new audiences.

1. It's a pretty good idea.

The fanboys would scream, but I think that a reboot would work well if you had the right combination of actors and writers.

it could be worthwhile.

Personally, I'd prefer it if they did something nuts like (gasp) invent some totally new ideas completely unrelated to the Star Trek universe.

theres just so much left to explore in the current Star Trek universe, why reboot it?
I'd love to see a series about Star Fleet Academy. It would be a great opportunity to see familiar characters pop in occasionally for guest appearances.
