Oh Lord, NO!!!!!!! Guess who's coming back to WHO? (Spoilers)
http://www.gallifreyone.com/news.php#newsitemEEAyEVyplZeSBQinJX

BBC News have reported that Billie Piper will be returning to Doctor Who, portraying her original role of Rose Tyler.

The news was originally reported in today's Daily Mirror, which went on to say: The Time Lord, played by David Tennant, starts with Donna (Catherine Tate) as his helper, is then joined by Martha (Freema Agyeman) and then reunites with Billie's character Rose for the finale. A source said: "With Donna, Martha and Rose competing to assist him, Dr Who is going to be spoilt for choice." The paper also reported that the actress will be in at least three episodes of the new series. (also reported by The Hollywood News, Daily Record, Ananova, and Marie Claire)

The breaking news was actually reported on our very own Doctor Who Forum last night by fans present at filming in Cardiff, including photos of Billie Piper at the location. These can be found in the forum here if you really want to see them! Thanks to Brian_Damage and PMount for the reports.

Update: The official Doctor Who website has now confirmed that Piper is returning as Rose in Series 4, but adds, "Anything you may read elsewhere about when, how or for how long Rose returns to Doctor Who should be treated as pure speculation at this point."

Meanwhile, the BBC have also issued a general press release on the Christmas line-up, with the principal item being Doctor Who: "BBC One reaffirms its position as the one to watch with a formidable line-up of television's biggest and brightest award-winning stars. David Tennant stars as The Doctor in a very special edition of Doctor Who, alongside the one and only Kylie Minogue, who plays a waitress on the Titanic."

So the Doctor's choices are a ditzy ex-bride, a competent doctor that got tired of not having her advances met, and the whiny little brat that's been suggested as being the Doctor's actual lover?

Well, at least series 3 was decent...

1. Hrm.
OK, I didn't like Piper as Rose at first. But she grew on me, and the end of her run on the series with "Doomsday" was one of the all-time best episodes. However, that episode loses all of its power and emotion if Rose comes back. The finality of their parting MADE that episode. Shame on RTD if he brings her back. Move ON.

2. I agree
and BBCA just showed that episode again this weekend.
The final 5 minutes was some of the best stuff ever on Dr Who, and it was because you knew they could never see each other again.

3. Well
the latest RUMOR is that Rose, along with Martha, will be in the last 3 episodes. (not just one) Along with Jack and Sarah Jane Smith, and purportedly features Davros too.

I suspect the truth is in the middle, but knowing WHO will be put on hiatus after series 4, and knowing RTD's penchant for sensationalism, those 3 episodes will feature as much of his mark as possible.

As for "Doomsday", it doesn't stand up to much repeat viewing. (Series 3 holds the record in that regard... :D )

4. "Christmas on the Borg Cube"
Dude, is that pic in your signature from 'Overdrawn at the Memory Bank?' I saw that on MST3K and it was hilarious!

I totally want to take a vacation as a drunk baboon.

9. Yup!
And that's where I saw the flick too; I'd hate to have seen it in its original, unmolested, form...

5. Aw...
I feel like I'm the only one who's happy about this.

You know, on all my boards, I keep hearing people complain about how they're so sick of Rose fans because they're supposedly everywhere and are totally oppressing non-fans, but everywhere I go, it's hate hate hate. The only thing I can figure is that every last one of them must be on Outpost Gallifrey, where I refuse to go because it is quite possibly the wankiest board I have ever seen.

6. Not the only one
I loved Billie as Rose - I thought she was outstanding (as well as gorgeous!)

7. I liked Rose too
IMHO she was a far stronger character than Martha.

8. I prefer Rose too
particularly at the end of the 1st series.

Personally, I thought they didn't know how to transfer the focus of the show from her development in the first series to the Doctor in the second (where it should have been, all along). I felt they made her very weak by the end.

11. I love the Rose character
and I am happy to see Billie Piper return to the series.

Question: Who will replace David Tennant as the Doctor? What happened to the plans to have a female Doctor?

12. I liked both Rose and Martha
for different reasons. Martha suffered from the "not-Rose" problem.

I'm more worried about the rumor that I heard saying that John Barrowman was leaving Torchwood. AIIIIEEE! That would make it more of the "Gwen Show" than it already is. Besides, I loves me some Captain Jack!
