The Doctor does not regenerate.

Having been shot at point blank range by a Dalek, the regeneration process starts.

Then the Doctor pushes the "regeneration energy" into the severed hand he likes to keep in a jar.

So far, I have not heard back to my request for confirmation that his spare hand made the following gesture after the 'event':

1. Yup - the energy did create a second 10th Doctor, which will go live with Rose in her world...

And Mickey will get to say "It's all about her" for the rest of time too. :eyes:

Dalek Caan turns on Davros; works with the Doctor


Rose goes off with 'her' Doctor (a human version) back to her parallel universe, nor does she say 'goodbye' to the real Doctor.

Mickey stays with the real Doctor, apparently (cool, as long as he's post-Age of Steel and pre-Doomsday when he became Supermickey)


At least Rose is gone, regardless of how naff the excuse to bring back her family was for one final outing...

7. Ok, I have to ask the really important question:

After teasing us for weeks and now going through all of this to find a way to reunite Rose and The Doctor, there is some snogging, right? Cuz, if they are going to throw this cockamamie plot at us, it will go down a lot easier for me if there is lots of snogging. Otherwise, what's the point? I'm just sayin'.

Since Rose's "human" Doctor cannot regenerate, he doesn't have to worry about outliving her. They have a big ol' wet smooch and I'm guessing about 30 seconds after the TARDIS took off, they were shagging on the beach at Bad Wolf Bay.

9. Ok, then

Hmm..... How's that going to work for her? His Time Lordiness is part of who he is, regeneration and all. Can she accept a doppleganger as the real thing? How is life going to be for them, all settled down somewhere? Part of what makes him attractive is the excitement of his life. It sounds like he broke off a piece of himself to live with her on that parallel world, while he continues on in this one. What's in that for him, really, knowing your twin is shagging the woman you love?

I'm getting a headache, I'm so confused...

10. All can be understood with just one realization:

Russel T. Davies wanted to wrap up all his story elements from the past 4 seasons in the last episode.

Rose loves the Doctor, and the Doctor (supposedly) loved Rose. Problem: Doc is a Time Lord and will outlive Rose by centuries - he doesn't fall in love with humans. (Well, let's ignore the two-parter in the library from this season for now.) Solution? Create a "human" Doctor with a human lifespan and dump him off with Rose!

I dunno, at least RTD did leave plenty of openings for future writers/producers to bring back pretty much anything they want. The Master? Sure. Daleks? Well, we never did see Davros or Dalek Caan actually get destroyed now did we? Etc.

3. Ugh

Waaaaaaaaaay too much crammed into one episode. Some interesting ideas, but when they're thrown at you at 450 mph they're not very fun to process.

#1 WTF? moment is the Daleks leaving a master control panel right in the middle of their "prison" area, one which could be used to stop their doomsday device and destroy every last one of them!! Excuse me?

#2 WTF? moment - so the Time Lord knowledge was too much for Donna's human brain, and would have killed her had the Doctor not wiped it clean. But yet the "cloned" Doctor was fully human, and HE could handle all that Time Lord knowledge just fine? Umm, just one throwaway line to explain that would have been nice.

Overall I'm disappointed. Neat effects, great acting, but lousy story and way-too-convenient resolution. Same feeling I got from last season's "Last of the Time Lords".

he's half and half, but i guess so is donna.

i dunno, davies had a few great seasons, but 4 was blah. I even like donna, i just didn't like a lot of the writing

5. I'm forever indebted to RTD for resurrecting the series.

And overall it's been fantastic. However the little quirks have grated on me and I'm excited to see what Moffat will do with complete control. His episodes have been very impressive.

6. This 2-parter should have been expanded to 3

The pace of episode 12 was manic and felt very rushed. Ep 13 was better and saved the story arc from turning truly crap, but even so wasn't as good as it should have been.

Truly cruddy. I may make a point of not watching RTD episodes ever again.
