or maybe the kraken from clash of the titans was too much of a rip-off of the original creature of the black lagoon?

5. That was my first thought.

The kraken always reminded me of the creature in 20 Million Miles To Earth, also a Ray Harryhausen creation like the kraken. The guy was a damn genius.
