Disregard the first three if there's a buck to be made.

2. The track record of commissioned sequels to classics is not stellar.

Beyond the Fall of Night was OK, but really it just didn't add anything good to the original.

Same for those three Foundation sequels a few years ago. Interesting exercise in trying to rescue a fundamentally wrong SF premise, but the SF world would not be worse off without them.

Write new stuff. The classics are history.

3. Yeah. The article's a little over the top with its Asimov-worship

But I suspect that this was deliberate hyperbole.

The most damning line in the piece was the observation that Asimov would have written the sequels himself if he'd wanted any to be written.

4. I wish a production company had the guts to film Harlan Ellison's "I, Robot" screenplay...

...without revisions, except any Ellison himself chose to make.

That would be the definitive IR film.
