Chris Columbus will direct/produce "Sub-Mariner"
Just three days after announcing the director for Iron Man, Marvel is back in the trades again, this time announcing that Chris Columbus will direct and produce the upcoming Sub-Mariner movie for Universal.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie is seen as “an epic film that will highlight various cultures, species and worlds beneath Earth's oceans. At the same time, it will tell the tale of Namor, a man who is torn between the world he grew up in and the world he belongs to.”

2. I wasn't overjoyed to hear the that Columbus was involved either
This is definitely a film that couldn't have been done before CGI. The underwater scenes are going to make or break this film. Seeing people underwater in extended sequences without suits is going to be hard to pull off where it actually looks believable. It's either going to be wonderfully cool or laughably amaturistic.

4. Too many comic book movies, I think
i grew up loving comic books, but is there enough of an audience for Sub-Mariner to justify a movie?

Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman & Spider-Man are American icons... X-Men is a top rated comic book, Daredevil at least is pretty popular... does Subby even have his own comic?
