2. I concur
Great episode, one the series' best. Santos is gonna give Vinick a run for his money in November. I also LOVE how Leo is the VP nominee. That is simply awesome.

3. LEO for VP
That will be awesome. The episode was great. What happens to Donna and Will now. Will is too valuable a policy guy to leave out of the next campaign. Donna has shown her ability to play on the big stage and already knows most of the party's big players. The two of them should be in the Santos campaign and hopefully Santos Whitehouse.

So much for rumors of a Rob Lowe appearance at the convention.

4. Agreed!
Although the season started out slow, the last 4-6 shows are back to the quality of the first couple of seasons. I like the "look behind the scenes" they gave us of a primary campaign.

And Leo for VP - I got blindsided by that.

7. well at least they are giving the older characters something to do
for next season.

I thought it was a great episode although I wonder about Leo. He is a recovering alcoholic and just had a heart attack.

I bet the repubs find out about the alcoholism and he has to drop out during the campaign.

9. the hearings were about the MS...which they stopped when
Leo's alcoholism was about to be revealed. At least that's how I remember it.

That republican lawyer that Donna was dating at the time, and that C.J. just hired, stopped the hearings and then Bartlet just took the censure to keep Leo's alcoholism from being revealed.

Did something else happen since then?

10. It didn't come out publicly at the hearings
but the Republicans know about it.

11. oh snap thats right...
for some reason I was under the impression that it was out in the public but you are right it never came out. One would think Vinick would be against releasing this info but who knows. Next season will definitely be interesting

19. For some reason I thought everyone knew about it
If not, and it comes out, it could be interesting. I think Vinick would release it if it came down to it. He's not a bad guy, but I think he'll do anything he can to win it.

17. I hope it wasn't her
I love CJ -- she's one of my favorite characters. I sure hope they have a role for her in the Santos administration.

14. I'm not so sure it's CJ
It might be Toby -- remember, his brother was an astronaut or something with NASA.

...but because the NSA gal went to Toby and closed the door I think it's C.J. .....

You never know.....maybe it was President Bartlett... and C.J. just knows about it....

Hmmmmm??

15. I love that they made Leo the VP candidate
Santos and Leo should blow Vinick out of the water. As soon as Josh started talking to him about how they decided who they wanted, I knew it was going to be Leo.

Santos' speech was so phenomenal -- how come we can't have honest, sincere candidates like that in real life? It was so obvious when you watched Bartlett's face as he spoke that he really admired him and knew he was the right guy.

I just hope they don't drag the campaign out until November or something like in real life. I hope they have the election really early in the season -- I can't stand the suspense, although I'm pretty sure Santos is going to win.

I also hope Donna and Josh finally get together next year -- it's way over due!

21. You guys really need to read Matt Roush
Edited on Tue Apr-12-05 02:57 AM by Chovexani
If you don't know, Matt Roush is a TV Guide writer who has a fantastic Q&A column Mondays on TVGuide.com (it recently expanded to Fridays as well). I've been reading from the very first column, and I've always suspected Matt was a liberal Dem, given his answers to some of the fundie nutjobs that write in from time to time to protest some gay character on some show or whatnot. Anyway, he also has a less frequent blog of sorts called Dispatches, and in the April 7th one he had this gem of a comment on WW's season finale in the midst of talk about the week's TV being so good it felt like sweeps come early:

Jimmy Smits surviving a coup attempt at a chaotic Democratic national convention to become (predictably) the next candidate on the season finale of The West Wing, while naming the principled but decrepit Leo McGarry as his running mate (the flip side of Dick Cheney, I suppose)

Hee! It's funny, 'cause it's true. I love Matt. Wonder if he hangs out on DU?
