The Amazing Race; who will win?
I'm pulling for the Linz Family.

Then the father and daughters.

I really don't want the Weavers to win. I just don't like them.

I can't wait for the show to go back to 2-person teams. This was a nice change but I like the old format better.

1. I was SO relieved that the Weavers didn't win
They reflected really badly on their supposed "Christian" faith - their actions didn't support their sanctimoniousness.

I was pulling for the father and daughters at the end, but I liked how the Linz boy knew his geography at the end.

I'll bet any amount of money that the producers told the Weavers to skip the map and go straight to the finish line --- can you IMAGINE how long it would take people to do a map when they don't even know that Pennsylvania is a state?

2. I had forgotten about them not knowing about PENN
I figured they weren't going to win because the producers made them look really bad during the race. I thought sure the Weavers were going to quit at the Olympic Stadium.

I think the map was an excellent way to end the race.

Did you see the extra footage online? There's an extra challenge for the second and third place teams for one of the GMCs. It's at www.cbs.com/gmc

4. My work firewall won't let me open it

Can you tell me what happens?

(of course when I went to vote in the contest, I got the full Monty -- theme music, videos, the works -- but I couldn't view the 2nd vs. 3rd contest for the truck!!! Who won?)

5. SPOILER
The final challenge was for the two teams to go back to the puzzle maps. In an adjacent field were clue boxes with little icons of their travels... a hot dog, a chair, a bear, the CN Tower, etc. The teams had to stay together and get one icon at a time and run back to the map and place it in the right location.

The Weavers weren't too sharp with this and the Bransons finished first and won the Yukon, or whatever it was.

It took ages for my dialup to download the 5 minute video.

On tv this morning the Linzes said half the money is going to their parents and the other half will be divided among the 7 siblings (not just thw 4 who competed.) They knew this going into the race.

3. I couldn't watch the first hour
The Weavers sickened me that much and I couldn't stand to see them in first. I flipped back and forth between Fear Factor :eyes: and TAR to avoid watching them. I don't know how old the two daughters are, but they certainly acted younger than any of the other kids on the show.

"This is stupid"
"I don't wanna do this"
"This is the dumbest thing I've ever done"
"Everyone hates us and we are so nice and Christian"
"Nobody helps us, we do it all on our own"

Phrases like that really annoyed me. When they basically gave up at the stadium, I figured they would end up with the best time. It just seemed like their luck. At the airport when one of the Linz brothers ran into the only decent/tolerable Weaver family member -- I didn't think it looked like the Linz was going to push him. I thought he looked like he was helping him up and just moving the kid aside relatively nicely. Maybe I didn't interpret it right, but the mother screaming "don't touch him!" seemed a little overdramatic. Would this young man actually violently push a kid on camera in public? I doubt it. Why didn't she yell at her kids to stop throwing trash and acting like shitheads?

I was rooting for the Linz Family and the Bransen Family winning. I liked both families.
I felt a little bad for Wally, I thought his daughters sometimes treated him like he was helpless. Apparently God had better things to do than make certain the Weaver Family won. I'm sure they are now busy defending Christmas from us liberals. (I'm being mean but they seem like the constant 'victimized Christian' types.)

6. And God gave them such a good cab driver, too
It was pretty repulsive. I have no porblem with people praying and being religious but they did seem to carry it to extreme.

That's right, I almost forgot about the god-given cab driver. People praying doesn't bother me either. Or thanking God for something after winning a sporting event or a game show. I'm not sure God had anything to do with it but it doesn't bother me, the people are happy and let them celebrate. But to talk about it all the time and claim to be victims because you are a Christian? Puh-leaze. I do feel bad for the family losing their father/husband. I can't even imagine losing my father unexpectedly.

In a TAR thread in "Entertainment", a poster said the Linz family was giving $500,000 to their parents and splitting the other $500,000 among 7 kids. Wow. I figured it out and the kids would each get about $71,400. $250,000 each versus $71,000... I don't know if I could give away that much!

Edit: I just read your other post in this thread -- nevermind! You saw the Linz family say that. :hi:
