Did my jaw drop on that one!!! We had recorded it -- I'm glad we watched it about an hour late last night and didn't wait until the weekend because I've already come across an article in the news about it that I probably would have read, even with the spoiler warning. :)
The article said that it's just a coincidence that the two actresses who were charged with DWI are the ones who were shot. And it said that Libby's fate is unknown, though it looked from the previews that Ana Lucia was killed and Michael survived.
In the recap episode and since, they seem to be reminding us about the Others keeping a list of those who are good ones, bad ones, that Ana Lucia could have been "turned," etc. It looks like Michael has been "turned" and made to do the Others' bidding. I don't think he meant to shoot Libby and I thought he shot himself to cover up. Henry Gale can escape and Michael will say Gale did the shooting.
So is this about some sort of James Bond evil nemesis type who believes he is god and somehow manages to bring all of these people, whose lives seem more and more to have been intertwined, to his island in order to reward the good ones and offer redemption or else to the bad ones?
Like you, it's hard to maintain interest with all of these long breaks between episodes, especially after I watched all of season 1 on dvd, about four episodes at a time. I was a rabid fan there for awhile! But I was beginning to feel like, who cares? I'm interested again BUT I really believe this show has only two more seasons in it. Ideally, I'd like to see one more season to get to the bottom of all of this and see our castaways make it home, and then I wouldn't mind a season of "after-stories" to see how they go on with their lives.
