HDTV question: do they MAKE CRT (tube) HDTV's?
I thought I saw one online where the catalog picture made me think it might have been, but it LCD.

But it lead me to ask if there is such a thing out there, because I haven't seen it.

I don't know WHY you'd want a tube-HDTV one, if it wasn't cheaper, but I am wondering if tube-TVs are destined to become a memory by way of the vinyl record player and VHS.

1. Well, CRT HDtvs have about the best picture you can find in an HDtv.
After all, the quality of the picture is the point. CRT HDtvs are limited to the size of the picture and Sony has some of the best with the max size of 34", but a massive 200 pounds. You don't move these sets around, but they do have a great picture. There are CRT HDtvs all over the place, usually in smaller sizes. I currently use a 30" widescreen Samsung which I have had for over 3 years and I paid nearly $1000 for and today I could get the best Sony 34" widescreen CRT HDtv for that price.

If you have not seen CRT HDtvs, then you have not looked in many places. Best Buy certainly has them, but not many. As far as music goes, there are still those who would claim that vinyl has the best sound. But for now, CRT HDtvs offer the best picture for the best price that you can find.

2. Yes They Do
And they cost far less than the slim screens.

On the downside, they're much heavier.

3. Yes
There are definitely HDTVs that are CRT based, and I bought one earlier this year. Mine is a Samsung 27" which at the time was $550, but which has now come down to about $500. The picture is bright, clear, sharp and gorgeous. The main downside for me is its weight--it's about 120 lbs. You need to get it to a rolling cart type entertainment center, cause once that thing is on something, you ain't gonna want to move it again any time soon!
