Rome - Season 2
I'm surprised we're not talking about this, especially after Octavian got switched! I really hate when that happens, and especially in this case because the "young" Octavian was a superb actor, and while his youth might have impeded credibility, I think he could have pulled it off. I don't like the new Octavian.

I'm also really starting to not like Voraneus (sp?). He's reminding me too much of Merrick from Jewel in the Crown (lol -- wonder how many of you saw that! it was Tim Pigot Smith)

Such a great series, although this week's episode seemed a bit below-standard to me.

1. I'm not liking this season as well as the first
I'm still watching it religiously because it's still interesting but it doesn't have the sharpness the first year did. Maybe it's just that the series was so different and sharp. (Similar to "I Claudius" on Masterpiece Theater.)

Vorenus is not as likeable this year, I agree. There's some interesting history to be shown, though, and I'm looking forward to that.

I think they had to change Octavian/Caesar Augustus. The other actor was just too young.

I adored "Jewel in the Crown".

2. I am LOVING this season
I was sad to see the change in actor playing Octavian, but since this is the final season, it was needed. They had to jump several years over three weeks of shows.

The coming shows should be GREAT. I look forward to MA and Cleo's joining forces and Octavian kicking the shit out of him, then throwing mom out on the street.

6. I think HBO announced it when they first picked it up midway through season 1
It was going to be a limited run. They share costs with BBC, which would nto commit to a longer run either.

3. I am LOVING this new season....
The first season was very good, but this season is awesome!

Changing up Octavias was a little bit of a shock....I must have missed the bit that said "meanwhile...three years later" when I was fast-forwarding on the DVR....but he seems to have similar inflections to the younger actor...so it doesn't feel that awkward...

I can't put my finger on it, but this season just 'feels' better than the first season....I do hope this isn't the final season...that would be a great shame..

Two thumbs way up!

7. I dislike this season.
It seems to have lost focus on anything but rape and murder.

Vorenus, Atia, and Marc Antony are totally boring and insipid.

I'm rooting for Servilia and Jocasta to get revenge.

8. I loved this whole series, but I guess at $50M a season
the cost was just too high for HBO to continue. Bummer.
