Survivor Fiji - Episode 3 Discussion Thread - NO SPOILERS
I LOVED LAST NIGHT'S EPISODE.
I was glad that Sylvia was voted off. She played poorly. Her performance at the challenge was poor and her style of play was making her team dislike her. I think it will help that she is gone. I don't get the anger toward Anthony. He was not the only one who sucked at thh food challenge. Michelle was lucky she got sunlight to start that fire. I don't think they could have lasted a few more days with little water.

The Reward Slip and Slide B-Ball game was fun to watch. I feel for Gary, but it seems he probably should be taking himself out of the game. I would not be surprised if he broke a rib and it is pressing up into a lung or something. If he can tough it out, it would help his team to wait until they lose a challenge, but he should go if his health is seriously at risk. After all, there is the game, then there is whats really important.

Rocky was great in the food challange, trying to swallow a giant clam whole. Mookie was a bit cruel taunting Lisa, but Ravu needed a kick in the ass. Anthony should not bear the brunt of this failure. He had a hard time with the pig snouts. Just like three other team mebers had with their items. I understand being pissed off about losing, but Anthony is a physically strong and smart player. They will need him to win challenges. I can;t wait for the idol to get played. It is great how it is making the votes change already.

1. question for you, dr. s—
What do you mean by no spoilers, if it's ok to reveal who got voted off?

I agree about Sylvia. She seemed to realize that her teammates didn't like her, and why, yet made no attempt to change her ways. And knowing exactly where the idol was and not finding it? After that abysmal performance at the challenge? I thought "loser", and lost any sense of wanting to pull for her then.

2. SPOILERS
Edited on Fri Feb-23-07 12:30 PM by dr.strangelove
Once something is on television, it is no longer spoiler information. If it airs on teh episode or on the promo for the next week's show, it is not spoiler information. For DU's TV forum, Spoiler information is that which discusses what will happen in the future on the show and is based on information not released by the producers (Brunet or CBS). CBS and Brunet are presenting the show, and what they release is part of the TV show. Other info is "spoiling" their direction or presentation. I used to be a big spoiler guy, but I grew tired of it after season three and have never gone back to it.

If you visit some web forums, each season there are people who know whose family visited the island, who lost significant amounts of weight and who came back with injuries. These obvioucly tell you who lasted the longest (since the family vists are usually late in the season and weight loss or injury are usually tied to time spent in the game) These things don't belong in my threads. One season a spoiler actually leaked the identity of the final five and final two before the season, and was on the money. A lot of friends were pissed off about that. I avoided that spoiler thanks to a DUer warning me about it.

4. I see, thanks. I was thinking in the general sense, as in not spoiling it for
people who hadn't yet seen the episode. I love my Survivor, but not to the extent of needing to know what happens ahead of time.

BTW, after last season's group I'm finding these guys a bit of a dud. Nobody's standing out for me yet.

5. There are spoilers
who have perfected the art form. One guy travels to where the show is shooting and talks with locals once shooting is complete to get info.

3. Sylvia was terrible
at that challenge. I lost respect for her when she realized her game plan was not working after the first tribal and did not respond by changing her game. It takes a bad player not to see that writing on the wall. She got a free pass for three days, and did nothing to save herself.

9. She almost stayed if one more vote had gone for
anthony. She didn't do that bad at the game.

6. This isn't even a contest anymore.
I don't know what's wrong with Ravu. Nothing sticks out to me. The challenges last night weren't as physically demanding as some have been. They just can't seem to catch a break. I hope they at least get some food soon.

:)

7. Do you think there are two idols?
Edited on Fri Feb-23-07 07:28 PM by MaineDem
The clues on Exile Island refer back to "camp". Which camp? Or is there one at each camp? Do they change the clues based on which team's member gets exiled? (That doesn't make much sense to me.) What do you guys think?

It could be a major twist to have TWO people - say, after the merge - with the immunity idol.

Or am I just missing something?

8. There are two idols
Each team will get the clues in the same order. If the other team goes to exhile, they will get clue no. 1. At least that is my understanding.

12. Might both teams have someone find the idol?
That could be an interesting turn.

14. I'm sure thats the plan
at the merge, it would be great if two idols were in the mix.

17. It could also be interesting to see
someone from the other tribe have to try to find the idol in the ravu camp.

Two idols? I hadn't even thought of that. The first clue said "back at camp" because it was clear which camp the person would belong to, since they were from the losing tribe.

I can't remember what the other clues were... anyone know?

Also, I think the massive advantage that the "have" team has over the "have-not" team is becoming obvious. This is the first season where it was so off-balanced, in terms of the stress on the teams. It's not even close to being a fair match-up, in fact it's almost sadistic.

10. Great episode
I was happy with either person going Sylvia or Anthony. Sylvia is just annoying and is no asset to the team, yet Anthony is a whiner and couldn't get down one bite of snout. As disgusting as it is, Papa Smurf seemed to get it down just fine. I predict he goes next unless something insane happens.

What was up with Boo being a little brat at the challenge with a little gamesmanship. I hope he is the first to go off of that tribe when it's their time to visit tribal. At least Ravu has fire now with flint, that should help them.

11. I thought Boo was responding to the gamesmanship
I think Ravu was taunting - to their detriment, it turned out.

13. He was responding to the gamesmanship...
there is going to be some here and Ravu was trying to keep the momentum going. He didn't have to whine about it, was my only point. With that kind of attitude he'll be voted out quick if he doesn't quit for medical reasons considering how accident prone he is.

15. I liked the episode too
and am glad Sylvia is gone.

I don't really know what else to say. I just found out my husband is having an affair and there are pictures on the internet. He's in the US for 3 months (where she is and apparently he's known her before this) and I am stuck here alone in Korea. I know this isn't really the place to talk about it but the pain is so bad that I almost feel like I have to keep telling people so it will sink in and I won't feel so alone.

Please don't feel like you're all alone...you've got a lot of friends on DU. Why don't you post this in the Lounge? You'll probably find some people who have been in the same situation.

After shock, sadness, and outrage, I'd be out for blood. My sympathies, Qanisqineq.
