Poll question: The Cable TV Battle Thread (pick your favorite)
Thanks to 500 channels, pay TV and niche marketing, this is probably the Golden Age of TV.

Of course, in part for the same reasons, it is also the foulest pits of the Dark Ages.

Here is a game for the privileged members of the Cable Class.

Pick one of the following 1-hour series and argue for its greatness - tell us why it turns you on - or at least tell us why it so well Exemplifies These Times.

Alternatively, feel free to attack any of these pieces of trash!

Alternative 2, attack the OP for leaving out your favorite.

1. Rome. It just draws me in every week..
Sort of like my Sunday night guilty pleasure. Sex, violence, political intrigue, more sex, more violence, and a glimpse at a side of Rome rarely shown...

The Soporno's....watched just about every episode, more and more reluctantly, and I will watch the final few in the hope that Tony gets whacked and finally put an end to this thing...I stopped caring about the characters a long, long time ago...the writing is awful, and the premise is more and more ridiculous....

2. Its a toss up between Deadwood and Sopranos
Both, to use your term, "turn me on."
as for "Exemplifies These Times," I'm not sure that they do. They are both HBO shows, so censorship freedom allows them to go further with expression, but I don't think the shows are a symbol for this time. Both have incredible writing carried on the screen by gifted actors and directors. Both are award winning film quality, but are shown on TV. They are very entertaining and suck me right in each new season. Alas there is only a half a new season left from the opranos and two short movies from Deadwood, but I look forward to both.

3. Rome, for now
Another time it might have been Deadwood or Dexter, but for now, Rome.

Marc Antony without a beard, so much better. But I just don't like the "older" Octavian -- I think they could have done it with the younger one.

This week's episode wass good
