One of the best shows in TV returns tonight. If you haven't seen it before try TNT at 9pm.

I got hooked on The Closer this last season. I even found a site that gave me a history of the characters so I could follow some of the references to past events.

Was that show inspired by Prime Suspect, by any chance? We've been getting that series through Netflix and I noticed some similarities.

I would think there is at least some inspiration but they don't give credit in the credits.
