Survivor Micronesia - Pick a Survivor Game

Hey everyone,
I hope you all have been well. Things have been crazy for me lately. My wife gave birth to my son a week ago. Mom and baby are doing well. I stil have not sent our last winner the t-shirt, but the holidays and then my wife's pregnancy took a lot of attention for me (she had a difficult time, but it all worked out well in teh end). I will get the last winner's shirt out this week and am happy to report that Survivor is upon us again, and with it comes another Dr.S sponsored contest.

This season we return to 20 survivors. This is the 16th Survivor series. With rumors that this is the end of the series flyign about, and Probst not having signed on for any more seasons, this may well be our last game.

If you have played before, please do so again. If not, join us. The game is simple. Pick a survivor, and the one that lasts the longest wins. The prize is a basic XL t-shirt with a survivor logo on it.

Here are the rules, the contest opens tomorrow, Tuesday February 5, 2008 at 9:00 am (Eastern time or GMT minus 5 hours). DO NOT MAKE ANY PICKS UNTIL THE CONTEST OPENS ON Feb 5 OR THEY WILL NOT COUNT! The first episode airs on Thursday, February 7. The contest remains open until Sunday February 10 at 11:59 pm, which is over three days after Survivor's first episode airs.

Once a player is picked, that player can not be selected by anyone else. The first to post a player gets that player. The longer you wait, the greater the chance that the player you want will be taken. This allows people who want to go to CBS.com and view the videos there, plus the TV Guide channel promo, make an early selection before the show airs. It also allows people who want to wait and pick after watching the first episode to play.

Good Luck and I hope you all play. Also, please do not discuss any spoilers in this thread. If you know who wins or have some inside info, feel free to use it to make your pick, but I don't want to hear about it. I like to watch the season unspoiled.

For me, I am hoping that Ozzy wins this, but I doubt it. For the new "fans" I am leaning toward JAson, but we will see.

He is just too likable and too strong. I love James. I hope he pulls it off, but I will never forgive him for not playing one of those idols.

10. I'm going with Ami this time.

I was a huge Survivor fan for a long time, and I watched every episode of Seasons 2 to 11. With Survivor 12 (Exile Island), life got too busy for me and I just couldn't make time to keep up with it any more. And I've missed it. I just saw today on CBS's website, on a total fluke, the website for the new Fans v. Favorites season...and I am STOKED to start watching this show again! The only thing is that I don't know most of the "Favorites" as I didn't see them the first time around, like Ozzy, Cirie, and Amanda. The only ones I know are Ami, Eliza, and Johnny Fairplay--I think the rest of them played sometime between seasons 12 and 15, the seasons I missed.

As far as my prediction goes, I really liked Ami when she played in Vanuatu. She was a smart player and was playing a good game up through the merge. In my opinion, she got a little too cocky, too early with her alliance with Leanne and Julie. If she wanted to expose her 3-way alliance in the final five, that's one thing...but not in the final seven. I think she just assumed that Chris was done for and would be voted out next, leaving all women, so she just a little too cocky and careless about her "top dog" position.

I think Ami will have learned those lessons and will play a better game this time around. I think she will pull an "Amber" this time. Meaning that just like Amber, Ami has the looks and the personality to get along with everyone well without being perceived as too much of a threat. This will carry her to the merge at the very least. I also think she will have learned how to pick her allies carefully, and keep her mouth shut--which were the two main things that cost her the game in Vanuatu, IMHO. And like Amber, I think Ami will make it not to sixth place like the first time, but all the way to the final two this time...and depending on who she's sitting next to, could win the whole thing!

At any rate, I'm looking forward to watching and to seeing not 10, but 17 new Survivors. It's gonna be a fun season!





And is it just me, or is Ami a really, really good looking woman? She seems to look even better in her promo pictures this season than she did in Season 9. Trust me, if she can turn the head of this gay guy...then she's exceptionally beautiful. :)

11. Hello and I agree about Ami

I am a huge Survivor fan too. I am stoked for this season. while I think there were better favorites to choose from, I like most of them. I really don't see the appeal of Johnny Fairplay though. While I loved his dead grandma moment, he was not a good enough player to do this again.

Ami played a great game in Vanuatu, but she did get too cocky. Plus, she did not turn on her fellow women when she should have. I am sure she will play a better game this time. Oh yeah, and on Amy, she is a REALLY good looking woman! She has gotten better with age. Do a google image search for her and you will find her playboy picture taken when she was in her early 20s. She was very plastic looking then, not the total babe she is now. (but she was hot then too).

I agree that there were better "favorites" to choose from. There have been so many players over the years, including a handful of really good players that were screwed over the first time around. Here are a few of my personal favorites that I think would have been great additions this season:

Borneo: Kelly (just because she got screwed by Susan in the end--I didn't see it, but I've heard all about it!)
Australian Outback: Kel (I admit it, it would be funny as hell to see him play again!)
Africa (my personal favorite season): Teresa, Kelly, and Kim P.
Marquesas: Hunter, Gina, Tammy, and John
Thailand: Helen and Brian (as greasy and disgusting as he was, he was a great player, after all)
Amazon: Alex, Heidi, and Christy
Pearl Islands: Andrew
Vanuatu: Twila (just for comic relief, especially since Ami and Eliza were cast), Chris, and Chad
Palau (my second-favorite season): Tom, Jeff, Angie, Greg, and Coby (again, for comic relief--and I thought Brandon in Africa was flamboyant!)
Let me tell ya, I'm sooooo happy that they didn't bring Stephenie back! I mean I liked her, but two back-to-back seasons of "The Stephenie Show" was a bit much! :rofl:

I totally agree about Johnny Fairplay. If he's not one of the first two or three voted out this time, I will be very surprised! He had the luxury of being unknown last time, but this time around everyone will know what a creep he is.

And I'll take your word on Ami's Playboy photos for now, since I'm at work. I'll check when I get home. :)

She is doing well. She is a bit shaken up about not being the center of the house now, but we give hers lots of love and extra attention to help her deal. She is 2, so its tough. she really does not understand, and in a few weeks she will probably not even remember a time when he was not here. But for now its a little rough on her.

I think people made it clear during the second challence last night that Parvati has a target on her back. That one question about who is not in control buts thinks they are in control, everyone said Parvati but her. Not a good sign. Maybe Cirie is really the one in control. Next week will determine Cirie's fate. Its a big week for her to choose how to align herself for the end game. Anyway, we are down to two great player in our little pick the winner game. Congrats to lpbk2713 (Parvati) and Suich (Cirie) for making such great picks. I thought I was looking good with Jason, but he played like an idiot and did not play the idol. I was close to picking Amanda this season, looks like I made a mistake. Anyway, I predict a Cirie win, but who knows. As long as its not Erik, I'll be satisfied.

I feel bad for dotcosm and xmas74, whose players were medically evicted, not voted out, but thats the way it works.

23. I tend to agree the heat is on Parvati.

She'll need a lot of luck and some good breaks to make it from this point on. I think Cirie has more Survivors on her side and has a better shot at going all the way.
