Its time for my annual Pick a Survivor Game. I posted this two weeks ago, but I messed up some of the dates by vutting and pasting from an old post, sorry about that. I decided to re-post the information and correct the errors. Here goes:
This season we are off to Gabon, Africa. The Title of the Season is Survivor: Gabon - Earth's Last Eden. I can't believe it, but this is the seventeenth season of Survivor. This year we have 18 contestants. Also, CBS announced that this will be the first season to be shot in high definition. I don't have HD TV, but my sister does, so I will try to catch one episode over there.
They reportedly had problems with wild animals, including elephants, getting into the production areas and into the camps where the survivors are playing. That should be cool to see in HD. The "twist" this year is that any player sent to "exile island" will have a choice of receiving a clue to the location of the Hidden Immunity Idol or getting an "instant comfort." I can't imagine a person giving up a clue to the idol in exchange for a blanket or a pillow, but soem idots might. I hope someone is voted off once they choose a cheeseburger over a clue to the idol.
Anyway, the rules for the DU game are the same as always. If you have played before, please do so again. If not, join us. The game is simple. Pick a survivor, and the DUer who picks the survivors that lasts the longest wins. Most years someone picks the eventual winner. The prize is a t-shirt with a survivor logo on it. I'll mail it to you at the end of the season.
Here are the rules, the contest opens tomorrow, Tuesday September 23, 2008 at 9:00 am (Eastern time). DO NOT MAKE ANY PICKS UNTIL THE CONTEST OPENS tomorrow September 23, OR THEY WILL NOT COUNT! The first episode airs on Thursday, September 25, 2008 at 8:00 PM ET / 7:00 CT. The contest remains open until Sunday September 28 at 11:59 pm, which is over three days after Survivor's first episode airs. This year the first episode is two hours, so you will really get a chance to view the survivors before the show is over, plus, two people will be voted out, so if you wait, you really get a good chance to see how the players are interacting.
Once a player is picked, that player can not be selected by anyone else. The first to post a player gets that player. The longer you wait, the greater the chance that the player you want will be taken. This allows people who want to go to CBS.com and view the videos there, plus the TV Guide channel promo, make an early selection before the show airs. It also allows people who want to wait and pick after watching the first two-hour (and two eviction) episode to play.
Good Luck and I hope you all play. Also, please do not discuss any spoilers in this thread. If you know who wins or have some inside info, feel free to use it to make your pick, but I don't want to hear about it. I like to watch the season unspoiled.

First off, I have to say that Brunet has returned to picking lots of young good looking people. The did it again. The cast, especially the females, are all beautiful. I hope they are all good players as well. I am leaning toward one of the younger women. I watched the TV Guide preview show last week. Talk to you all soon. Good luck and enjoy the season.
