Survivor 22 - Jesus Episode
Are you fucking kidding me with this shit? How many times do we need to hear about Matt's 'pesonal relationship with the lord'? And sweetie, it was really god's will that you LOSE? Do you not know how dumb that sounds...

Sorry for the rant, but can you imagine the furor if these were two MUSLIMS talking about their faith?

3. I thought it was good
The big thing about Survivor to me was learning about the characters and then watching them reveal themselves in actions that often went against their words. Guys like Russell, who never denied what they were, always were appealing, but got boring quickly. Guys like Matt, who will have to turn against his caring nature if he is to win, well thats fun to watch. I'd never know it unless I learned first about who he was.

Also, back in Big Brother 7, there was not all that much furor when the muslim Kaysar was talking about his faith. He was by far the most popular member of the house that season.

Anyway, I thought the episode was great. Krista and Matt were good competitors at that challenge. What I thought was so telling about who truly understands this game and who does not was at the end, when Krista lost, Serita and Mike seemed happy. Are they kidding me, Matt is proving himself to be one of the best individual challange players in the history of the game. He is winning very difficult physical and mental games. I don;t want him anywhere near getting back in the game. In fact, I am now sure that he will get back and will prove to be Rob's undoing and biggest mistake.

As for Stephanie, she played the wrong horse in Russell and was forced top lie in the bed that she made. I think its clear though that the tribe made the wrong call. Serita is weak and will get the boot next, but if its before a merge and they enter the merge down, its because they threw the challenge o oust Russell and because they kept a weak player.

I gotta say, as much as I think Ashley and Natalie are hot, man they are annoying. Phillip is right, they are out there plucking armpit hair and not working. I suspect he goes next on that tribe.

Props to Grant and Rob for paying a great game, and I give Andrea credit for serving them up well. I'm not sure why Phillip was not out in the course, but it hardly mattered. Putting the best players up front helped them blow away the other tribe. If Matt comes back, even if they lose Phillip, Rob's crew in going to go on a little run and go into the merge in control.

Its funny, two weeks ago I thought Rob's side was in trouble, now I think they have control of the game. Matt is the wildcard though. I think he comes back to stay with his tribe, but also takes out Rob. I can;t wait to see next week, which is the sixth redemption island face off, which Jeff said would be good. I also always thought that was when Matt would come back into the game.

6. I disagree with something (naturally)
:D

I think Matt will align with Rob again. Note that, at the end of the episode, Steph is telling Matt about how he doesn't want to align with the shoemakers, and he agrees. He's still got a crush on Rob.

All Rob has to do is hold it together one or two more weeks. My prediction failed, as this is the first 16+ member season with no double boot by episode 6. Not sure when that'll happen. Probably next week. Sigh.

Don't forget that the shoemakers won the challenge right after booting Russell, so losing him didn't cause this slide. I think it's just the challenges aren't brute strength anymore.

Speaking of challenges, Grant was amazing. And so, so pretty. So, so pretty. Even with the white guy dreads.

I agree that Ashley and Natalie aren't doing much, but I also agree that Rob is playing that perfectly. He's obviously angling for a final three of Rob, one or both of the girls, and Phillip if necessary. That's how he wins. (Unspoiled speculation, naturally.) Grant is a huge threat in F3, so he'll have to go mid-late game, around 6th or 7th.

Stephanie waited too late to make a move. She should have been easing her way into the Six the minute Russhole was voted off. She and Krista should have voted for Sarita last TC, too. Terrible players, both of them.

David's not impressing me much, either. For the smartest player to ever play the game, he's managed to smart his way into an isolated position with no power. I wouldn't be surprised to see him go before Sarita, since that alliance is all about trust.

This season is shaping up to be very nice, especially compared to the dreck of last season.

Oh, and on the Jesus stuff, I think Matt may actually have an advantage on Redemption Island, in that he's not alone all the time. He's got his friend Jebus with him. And now he has a Bible. (I thought of Die Hard: "Now I have a gun, too." :D ) And he's a challenge machine. He'll have to go the first individual immunity he loses, if he makes it back in the game. Or the first TC back if it's not after the merge, either way. He's a huge threat.

I loved how jealous Andrea got. Not sure it was jealousy, though. It could just be what she said. She thought they had a special bond, but if he's bonding with random people like that, it wasn't that special. So back she goes to Rob...

It's Boston Rob's world, the rest of us just live in it, apparently. :hi:

9. If Matt comes back to his tribe, Rob will have to draw
him into an alliance right away. Even if he only gets Matt to THINK he is allied, he must do that. I think they should get rid of Matt ASAP, if he does come back. He is still a threat, even though Rob has an immunity idol. I don't know how the others will feel if they find out Rob has the idol. Grant could feel terribly betrayed, or he could admire Rob for smart play.

If Philip goes prematurely, it means that Rob has lost control of the team. Rob has to make it look like booting Philip is his idea, even if Rob wants to keep the special agent around for awhile. Rob is right to have a laid back attitude about the lazy young girls. He needs their support, for now.

I don't know about the other team. They don't like Sarita much, but David needs to be careful. Yet Sarita has a bad tooth. They could decide that that is just one more reason to eliminate her. If they do, Matt will win another challenge. Sarita's head is not in the game any more

David is pretty far down in the pecking order. He needs to do something to show that the team still needs him.

I still love Ralph's spelling: first "Ressel," then "Stifanie." He spells like he speaks. LOL.

10. was just coming to post about the spelling
Edited on Thu Mar-24-11 09:29 PM by lazarus
so far:

Ressel
Krasta
Stifinie

Hilarious.

I'm wondering if all the shots of Sarita in pain from her tooth/gum are foreshadowing. Since it never came up in strategy discussions, are they laying the groundwork for a medevac?

Matt is too dangerous to live, from one perspective, but the perfect goat from another. Yes, he's innocent of booting anyone and is a challenge machine, but he also hasn't made any bonds with anyone and put himself in the position of having to win a bunch of challenges.

I think Rob will get rid of Matt as soon as he's able to. He's already got Grant.

I viewed the Rob/Grant team as being analogous to Lex/Ethan, but someone else came up with Yul/Ozzy, which is even better. Rob (Yul) does the strategizing, whilst Grant (Ozzy) wins the challenges and makes sure the other alliance can't save themselves or gain any power.

That makes Natalie and Ashley the new Becky and Sundra.
