Anyone interested in old Case steam tractors?
We are moving onto an historic farm in rural Tennessee and the main mansion has many many hidden treasures, here is one:

The caretaker actually has kept this beauty running, he collects old tractors and has more in the out buildings. I can't WAIT to investigate the old buildings and gardens.

4. I know, I will let the old guy know that he can find all kinds of info on the net.
He loves his tractors and may just need help finding parts and/or people to offer advice.

7. Up here in Minnesota they have a couple running at the State Fair every year, and I used to live in
a county that had a tractor show every summer, and someone had an old Case steam tractor, painted up gorgeous and running and ticking like it was brand new. They are a treat to see in action.

Have fun on the acreage. We bought a farmhouse 10 years ago and lived there about five years. It didn't have any gorgeous old equipment like that, though!

10. Thanks! The new owner works full time in Nashville so she'll be needing help with the place.
I'm going to let her know I'd be thrilled to help dig out and catalog everything. I can't wait to see the Case in action!

We're only renting a few acres, but the 10 year old modular home is on a foundation and is in great shape. The owner loves animals so we're going to start shopping for hoofed and clawed friends this spring.

a museum.

:wow:

*whistles*

If he's eager to unload, you might try a farm implements museum. We have one here in Raleigh at the state fairgrounds. Or perhaps turn the whole place into a museum.

5. This farm was let go but because it is in the middle of nowhere nobody looted the place.
My bf kept wondering how much the tractor was worth, I could have smacked him. I told him it's not about the money, steam tractors were the space shuttle of their day, most farmers could only drool about having one of these babies. Talk about engineering that changed everything...

The mansion and outbuildings were built out of bricks that were made right behind the house we're renting. It's a spooky place with weird statues, creepy overgrown gardens and who knows what else. It reminds me of a sanatorium.

Bf had to stop me from climbing over the fence, I'll have time to investigate soon enough, we're moving in the next two weeks.

The caretaker is not very, um...modern, I don't think he knows what to do with his treasures so I found several internet forums where he can find info. Once I can get broadband (if I can get broadband) I'm willing to be his liaison.

8. I know, she's absolutely gorgeous. And I 'm told he has dozens of antique tractors and machinery.
I would love to research the history of the farm and the items sold with the estate. Most old plantations/estates around here have been torn down and the land bought up by corporate crop farmers. What a shame.

6. That's beautiful. The tractor of the future in the post oil age.
There is still a lot of interest in steam power.

Thanks for the link!

I'm going to be bothering you guys for months, we only rented one house and five acres but it's going to be wonderful to live in the country again.

I'll post pictures of everything I find (when I can get into town to use wifi).

18. Can't wait til all the crops are in and I can use a horse to explore.
The aerial photos will come in handy and hopefully the librarians and historians can provide copies of old maps.

11. Here's a shot of the front of the house, it's enormous but the owner wants to restore everything
I hope she doesn't get discouraged easily.

16. No idea, I haven't been able to walk around the entire thing yet.
I looked at aerial shots of the mansion and it has several wings.

I'll get what info I can from the new owner and caretaker and then see what the local library and historical society have on it.

17. Yes, the breeze...it's exquisite.
Our house is on a slight hill on the back part of the farm and at night you can hear the wind whistling through the trees, cicadas and katydids, the owls hooting to each other across the fields and coyotes howling for the sheer joy of it.

Farewell to the sweltering city, its smells and grime, garbage covered streets, abandoned houses and polluted river. Good riddance to the dealers and thugs who prevent kids from playing in the park and force good people to hide in their houses each night.

15. you will need to learn about "old Abe" the war eagle...
from Wisconsin, she is the eagle in their LOGO. She went to War with the 8th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment C during the Civil War. I learned about her from an old fellow I knew who was a total Case Tractor nut. Hey have fun and keep us posted, especially with photos, and btw that stuff is very much collectable and valuable.
