Hey all. Here is a candidate in Indiana that thinks farm subsidies are wrong.
Yet, his dad and he accept them.

Here is a video of Marlin Stutzman saying that "By law we have to take that money as the producer and the farmer." There is a bit more on the subject.

Here is the video with it starting at that segment of his response. Clip

I know that farmers are not forced to take it and that they have to apply for it. Does anyone have any other comments to rebut him?

Thanks

1. More Hypocrisy...
Stutzman has taken $179,370 in farm subsidies since 1995.

It is also worth noting that Stutzman agreed to host a reception for his friends at the Creation Evidence Expo. I suppose his farm must be full of Triceratops and Pterodactyls.

2. One minor point, you don't have to apply for all subsidies.
Some are handled at the level of the company that buys the grain.

However, he doesn't elaborate on how exactly he ended up with the subsidy income.

3. The Amish don't accept subsidies. They simply don't apply for them.
If this dude got them, he had to ask for them.

4. Why do people talk so much about things they don't understand?

You don't have to ask for all subsidies.

You can avoid them and you do have to apply for most of them. However, there's no need to lie in order to make the point.
