Let's liven this joint up.
This group is tooooooooo slow, and it should be among the most exciting. I know you good folks have some trips planned this summer-what are they? Next weekend for me, weather permitting, will be a quickie to a local bassery in my brand new pelican kayak. Flyfishing for the bigmouth, I will be. Weekend after next, out on beautiful Lake Texoma for some hot striper on striper action. Then, on May 17th, down the Brazos below Lake Whitney Texas for some smallies with this guy:

(I give myself one interesting guided trip a year)

Surely you have some piscatorial activities planned this spring-what are they???

1. Not Picatorial but
I plan to do a Presidential Traverse (http://home.earthlink.net/~ellozy/presidential-traverse.html#presi1) this summer. And I have a goal of doing at least one 4K a month this season to make some significant progress towards 4K footer club membership. (http://home.earthlink.net/~ellozy/index.html)

I'm impressed.

3. Well...
Be impressed when I finish :)

But I do plan to 'knock it out' in 3 days.

5. Hey, YMCC
Glad to hear that you are still planning on the traverse. That will be a great hike.

Which of the 4,000 footers are you planning on hitting first?

7. This is my rough plan
I've already done Washington and Jackson so I'm actually going to skip those for this traverse:
Sleep at Highland the night of the 3rd

Reach Airline Morning of 4th (Sat)

Up Airline trail to Mt Adams summit

Backtrack a bit (via Air Line cutoff) to Madison Hut and then Bag Mt Madison Summit

Spend the night at Madison Hut

(Sun the 5th)

Madison Hut to Mt Jeff loop north end
Up Jefferson Loop to Jeff Summit

Mt Jefferson Summit back to Gulfside

Jefferson Loop South to Westside Trail

Westside Trail to Crawford Path

Crawford Path to Lakes of Clouds Hut

Bag Mt Monroe Summit via Monroe Loop

Spend night at Lakes Hut

(Mon the 6th)

Hut to Eisenhower Loop North - 2 mi - 1 hr

Loop to Eisenhower summit - .5 mi - .5 hr

Eisenhowe Summit to Crawford path - .6 mi - .5 hr

Eisenhower Loop South to Summit of Pierce - 3 mi - 2 hrs

Summit of Pierce to Highland Center - 2 mi - 1.5 hrs (Or if I'm beat I'll stay over at Mizpah Hut - that is how I have my reservation if I don't do this there might be an issue with room at the in at Highland)

4. Well, I planned to be on the water today...
...but winter came back. x( Mix of freezing rain, snow and sleet, pretty crappy to be sitting out in a boat, so I took a pass.

Ice just went out on a few lakes around here and the weather is supposed to be better on Saturday so maybe I'll wet a line then.

6. Well, this may not sound very exciting, but....
I'm looking forward to buying my fishing license, walking over to a nearby lake and getting the party started! :+

8. I'm all legal-
Texas and Oklahoma licenses in order. Just waiting for the water to settle down-extremely high and dangerous still.

9. In my neighborhood, all I have to wait for is the ice to.....
melt. (And, if I want to catch bass, trout or walleye, the fishing opener in mid-May.)

I bought my license on Friday, so I should be out sometime this week.

:hi:

Are you fly-fishing?
