Pretty stoked, taking my kids fishing for the first time on Monday.
I have not been fishing or hunting in a long time and my children are finally old enough to introduce them to great outdoor activity of angling. I spent the better part of today getting my old reel, cleaned, oiled and ready to go, I also went to the sporting good store and got poles and gear for my kids.

I can't wait till Monday, I feel like a little kid waiting to go to Disney Land. I still remember the first fishing trip my dad took me on, I was about 4 years old and caught the biggest Crappie I had ever caught (of course being four I probably remember it bigger than it really was), I hope my children have the same first experience because I was a fisherman for life after my first catch.

2. Well Fishing was great.
We did not catch anything had a couple of bites but was not able to land them. My kids had a great time though, my son who is 2 literally spent 4 hours clenching his pole while watching his bobber, I have never seen that kid sit still for 5 minutes let alone 4 hours. My daughter who is 4 would fish for 15 minutes then play for 30 then come back and fish, she had a great time and loved the lake.

The best part was on our way home, my kids asked if we could come back next week, I may have some anglers on my hands. I will post some pictures as soon as I get them uploaded.

3. Yep, I think I was about four, too. These are deeply-etched moments.

4. Wonderful!
I'm pretty new to fishing myself, but I've been trying to take my 12 year old as often as possible. It's a great opportunity to relax, connect with him and just forget everyday life. It's also the thing that just he and I do without his siblings.

I'm glad to hear that your kids enjoyed it so much!

And we caught 26 perch and 2 BlueGills in a 4 hour sitting. The perch were hitting the second the bait hit the water, I was fishing with two hooks and at one point brought two fish in at the same time, it was amazing fishing. My daughter caught 4 and my son caught 3. My wife caught her first fish ever which was the biggest BlueGill I had ever seen it weighed in at 1lbs 2oz.

The funny part was my daughter named the first fish she caught "Nemo" and I was like oh man I am going to have to tell her that he is food but then she said, "and I am going to eat you" which really was a relief for me. We ended up doing a huge fish fry last night and my kids ate like it was their first time tasting fish, they loved it.

6. "Your name is Nemo and I'm going to eat you."
LOL! I love it!

How old is your daughter?

I went out alone last night around 9:00pm and caught a couple of Pumpkinseeds (Sunfish). It was a chilly night (low '50's), but beautiful. And exactly the break from life I needed. :)

7. She is 4.
I love fishing for pan fish, it really brings the joy of fishing back since you always catch something.
