Why isn't this called the hunting group. It would be nice to have an outdoor life group
for people who aren't interesting in going out to kill things.

1. Why not start a group.
For those of us interested in backpacking, camping, paddling, nature watching, etc.
I'd join.

2. I try and post my outdoor, non-gun-hunting involved activities
there's usually only one other person that replies, occassionally a second.

There doesn't seem to be enough activity to support such a group, although I would be very interested if it was started.

BTW: Nothing against guns or hunting discussed here (in other words by and large by responsibile and thoughtful people doing these activities in responsible and respectful ways) at all it's just not something I do, I'm more interested in hiking, backpacking, etc..

3. Well since we killed of most of the natural predators here in the US people need to hunt
to fill in that spot at the top of the food chain. None the less as a non hunter it rather sucks that more or less every post is about hunting shooting or guns.

5. Most gun people are also nonhunters...
but ordinary gun threads go here because they aren't allowed in Guns. :)

4. There aren't enough posts to make separate subcategories for Shooting, Hunting, and Other Outdoors.

You'd have Hunting/Fishing, Gun Stuff (Not Hunting, Not Political), and Other Outdoor Life, each comprising about a third of the posts in this forum, which is already sort of slow.

At least half of the gun-related threads are not hunting related, since most gun owners, including me, do not hunt; anything nonpolitical and having to do with guns (target shooting, self-defense guns, competition, optics, collecting, history) goes in Outdoor Life, since Guns is limited to political discussions only.

So I introduced another person to shooting today

Mobil 1 synthetic makes a fantastic gun oil. (Caution: Geek Stuff.)

Good AR-15 introduction/tutorial...

I am looking to buy a handgun, any suggestions?

What's the Oldest Gun You Own?

DU SKS owners - anyone have any expierence replacing the stock?

Finally got a Kobra sight for the SAR-1...
