What time of year is best for putting up a bat house?
My wife and I want to put one up on our property but we don't know when to do it.

1. here
"...article on what to look for in the construction of a bat house was very informative. I had recently looked at a bat house at a local farm store. After reading about properly built houses I was very glad I didn't waste my money. Is it too late in the year to put up a bat house?"

"By properly installing a box in mid-summer, a few bats will investigate and even move in by fall if the box is in good habitat. Look for solid use next spring/summer."

2. Hi from Illinois!
:hi: I put mine up 2 years ago, and have not taken it down. I don't really think there is any particular time you have to put it up; however, no later than late April or early May. Be sure to paint it black and face it sw. Here is a good site to peruse. Good luck! http://www.batnic.org/bat-house-tips.htm

3. I understand early spring is best, but any time is OK.
Also have a link for great info on bat houses - many available is stores are not good sizes (too small) or good configuration (Too much like a bird house). Bat houses should be 2 Feet tall or more.
This link is from National Wildlife Federation:
www.nwf.org/backyard/bathouse.cfm

Interesting, has good information on bat houses and general info on bats.

Looking into one for our yard, Googled "Bat House", got thousands of hits.

Enjoy.
