Please suggest some Vermont hikes - June 08

Hello all. We are going to have about five days to play in Vermont this August.

At the moment, our plans are quite fluid. I have a notion that I would like to visit Stowe or other towns that have great XC skiing because we would like to vacation in the winter there some year.

Can anyone recommend any great hiking trails? I expect that we will do mostly hiking although renting bicycles and riding one of the trails is not out of the question.
